Medical courier Bryan unwittingly finds himself fighting for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos.

An absolutely thrilling, tightly-paced joyride through hell itself. Austin Abrams is perfectly cast as the Everyman just trying to do his best in an immensely horrific and impossible situation. It’s scary, gross, horrific, and endlessly captivating. It definitely feels like a video game turned into a film, from its episodic structure to the shifting camera perspectives to the very idea of Abrams’ character leveling up as the story progresses. It’s hard to imagine a movie more reverential to its source material while also managing to tell an entirely new story that fits perfectly alongside existing canon. Slick, tightly paced, and shockingly funny, it’s a great watch for the Halloween season.

It’s just such a shame nobody in this film has a lick of common sense or self-preservation.

4 out of 5 wands.
